How to Make the Perfect Bowling Shot

If you’re at a bowling alley like Bowlmor and struggling with your score, no worries as we have compiled tips to improve your shot. So if you’re looking for a way to get that 300 score, keep the following in mind.

How to Do the Hook Shot

Your bowling hand has to be straight. Do not flex or bend your wrist. Hold the ball, not too tight but not too loose either. Just hold the ball, keep your hand straight as you swing the bowling ball.

As the ball goes forward, turn your fingers, hand and wrist (your bowling arm) in the opposing direction of your body.

For left handed bowlers turn your wrist to the right. Turn the wrist to the left if you’re right handed.

Release the ball as it is approaches your ankle. Once you’ve released the ball put your hand in the handshake position. Your hand is in the proper position if your palm faces the lane’s interior and your thumb points up.

How to Make a Straight Shot

Place your hand under the ball. Keep your hand straight. The difference between a straight and a hook is that with a straight your hand cannot rotate or bend in the backswing. You have to keep it straight when you let go of the ball too.

Make sure you swing your arm smoothly. When the ball gets near your ankle let it go in the lane. Keep your palm and hand straight throughout.

Tips to Hone Your Game

  • Learn to angle your shots in the pocket. If you’re left handed it is between the one and two pin. If you’re right handed the pocket is between the 1 and 3 pin.
  • Go with a light ball. Throwing an 18 lb ball on the lane is no guarantee of a strike. Heavy balls cause the pins to fly off, while lighter balls on the other hand, increase the chances of the pins colliding.
  • Majority of professional bowlers go with a 14 1/2 or 15 lb ball. But you need to choose one that you’re comfortable with.
  • Take your time and concentrate on the arrows, not the pins when you release the ball.

Conclusion

This is stating the obvious, but you’ll need to practice to get better. You don’t become a good bowler by just reading, as you need to get out there to your favorite bowing alley and start playing.
