The first Bowlmor lane opened in Union Square in 1938. The site proved to be a hit and it actually hosted the Landgraf tourney in 1942 as well as the 1954 East vs West tournament.
Bowlmor lanes became very popular during the 70s and 80s, and in 1992, Tom Shannon bought Bowlmor and reinvigorated the bowling center. From just bowling, lane side food services were provided as well as video screens, glow in the dark lanes and more.
The new look Bowlmor proved popular with new and regular bowlers and was replicated elsewhere. In 2010, its largest location was opened in Times Square. The 90,000 square foot Bowlmor Lanes has 7 bowling lounges, sports bar, dance floor and other amenities.
Bowlmor offers bowling, billiards, laser tag, bocce, air hockey and a wide range of arcade games.
All the lanes sport a high end design, with lounge seats and video walls that play music videos and hit movies. There is also lane side service that provides food and drinks as you play the game. Unique cocktails are available and in many locations there are live bands.
All the video walls are in HD and complement the posh seats. Bowling ramps and bumpers are provided as well as sophisticated scoring systems. Some locations also have private bowling suits.
There are lots of games available ranging from table games, interactive titles, 4D adventures, retro classics and more. Among the most popular titles are Star Wars Battle Pod, Jurassic Park and the Walking Dead. If taking down TIE fighters, zombies or T Rex isn’t your thing, there’s Pac Man, Air Hockey, Skee Ball and several multiplayer action and racing games.
Like to play billiards? Bowlmor offers a lot of high quality billiard tables so you can play the game the way you want to. All the tables, sticks, cues and balls are made from high quality materials.
Urban Mission laser tag has you in the thick of the action. Put on your suit and get ready for some serious multiplayer fun. For team building, private parties and birthdays this is going to be a lot of fun. And if you haven’t played the game before, guidelines are available.
Bocce is a classic Italian leisure sport that’s been replicated at Bowlmor. The indoor courts are full scale that makes it ideal for both casual and serious players.
Air hockey is a classic table game and it’s available at Bowlmor. 2 and 4 person play is available. It’s got more variety than the average recreational table so if you’re looking for action this is it.
Why Choose Bowlmor?
The goal of Bowlmor is to give you an upscale, high end luxury experience, and they certainly deliver. The bowling alleys are well furnished, and the lounge setting makes it a comfortable and cozy place to play.
Apart from the amenities mentioned, the glow in the dark lanes, glow lighting and screens over the display add to the atmosphere and camaraderie. Aside from bowling, the plasma screens add to the luxury feel.
As a bowling experience, Bowlmor is a cut above the rest. If that were all it’d be enough for most, but add the video arcades, DJ booths, private party facilities, restaurants, catering, sports bars and other games, and there’s no question it’s the place to be if you want bowling beyond the ordinary.
